Haliza Hashim is TV3 Malaysia's News and Current Affairs Correspondent based in London. She reports from the UK and Europe.

 

News reporting

Haliza reports from the UK and Europe; producing News packages on politics, business, education, sports, travel, fashion and human interests.

Her job involves researching, interviewing, directing, writing, editing and presenting. Recently, she also does her own camerawork.

Television coverage

Over the years, Haliza has interviewed many high profile figures including Prime Ministers, corporate leaders, businessmen, diplomats, sports personalities and fashion designers.

She has covered many breaking news stories including the London 7/7 bombing, the Manchester Arena bombing, the Paris terror attack, the Grenfell Tower fire, the Malaysia Airlines MH17 crash in Ukraine, and the hearing of Maoist cult leader Balakrishnan.

Haliza has also been in attendance at many major events in the UK and Europe; including the Asia-Europe Summit, G8, the London Olympics, the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, ITB Berlin, World Travel Market London, Formula 1 Racing in Silverstone, several UK General Elections, numerous London Fashion Week shows, World Badminton Championships, G20 protest, UNESCO Conference, English Premier League matches and Farnborough Air Shows.

As well as her typical news work, Haliza has produced several special reports and short documentaries; such as Help for the Rohingyas and Lest We Forget for TV3's Majalah 3 programme and Sufiah, the prodigal child for Nona programme.

Television work

Haliza Hashim joined TV3 Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur in the early 90s as a trainee broadcast journalist in the News Department.

Over the years her career has taken her to become one of the stations longest serving international correspondents, with over 25 years of experience reporting from the field.

Kuala Lumpur: Between 1991 to 1993 she was placed across various departments - including covering News stories; seconded to the Money Matters team, reporting on business stories and market reports; and three writing for Malaysia’s national daily, the New Straits Times.

London: She moved to the UK as a Correspondent in 1993 and has since become the face of 'TV3 London' in its News bulletins.
